Family Background Music
I hail from Karkala a small town , growing up in a family where music was always present. My great-grandfather, Vidwan C. N. Shastri, was a musician, composer, and All India Radio artiste, and that legacy continued through my grandmother, Vidushi Sharada, and my father, who also practised music. Surrounded by all these , I began my musical journey at the age of four.

Surrounded by all these , I began my musical journey at the age of four. Coming to Chennai from Karkala has been as much about finding myself as it has been about finding my music. With the support of my parents Dr. Aruna Kumar SR and Poornima, living away from home has become an extension of my learning musically and inwardly.”The more I learn, the more I realise how little I know, and that humility continues to shape both the person I am and the artist I am becoming.”
